Houses Damaged And Eat Three Casualties, Local Government Asked To Immediately Establish Flood Emergency In Torue
PARIGI - The head of the Parigi Moutong DPRD, Central Sulawesi, Sayutin Budianto, asked the local government as a policy maker to immediately determine the emergency response status for the flash flood that hit Torue Village, Torue District on the evening of Thursday, July 28.
"We ask the executive to immediately take concrete steps to determine the emergency response status without having to wait 3x24 hours because the current situation is an emergency," said Sayutin when met in Torue, Parigi Moutong, Friday, July 29.
According to him, the conditions in the flooded area are very worrying, so a quick and appropriate treatment is needed, because since the incident the victims of the flash flood have not eaten, and many of them need food.
"They haven't eaten since last night, the flood victims just ate this morning, we want quick and organized treatment," said Sayutin, quoted by Antara.
As part of the government, he said, the DPRD has always supported the local government's efforts, starting from the search for victims on Thursday night, July 28, until the recovery efforts later.
Until Friday morning, the residents of Torue Village were evacuated to a safe place, because their houses were still submerged in mud and wood materials.
According to him, from the review he carried out approximately three hamlets that were severely affected, namely Hamlet 1, Hamlet 3 and Hamlet 5.
Reportedly, from the incident three victims died, four are still missing.
In addition, he also appreciates the SAR team that has worked to help evacuate affected residents, therefore the synergy of the government, stakeholders and volunteers is expected to continue to be built for humanitarian missions.
"We hope that disaster victims will become a priority at this time, because the situation is not yet conducive. We have also distributed minimal aid since last night," Sayutin added.
Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Parigi Moutong Idran said that currently there are approximately 37 children under five in a number of evacuation points.
"They need clothes, milk and other supplies. We are trying to help toddlers and other refugees," said Idran.
