Andy Ruiz: There Must Be A Trilogy Against Anthony Joshua, I Deserve One More Chance

JAKARTA - There is no doubt in Andy Ruiz's mind that he really wants to face Anthony Joshua once again.

The two fighters met twice in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, with Ruiz winning the first bout at Madison Square Garden via TKO, before Joshua won the rematch a few months later in Saudi Arabia by unanimous decision.

Ruiz himself then beat Chris Arreola and will face Luis Ortiz in September this year. While AJ has beaten Kubrat Pulev, lost to Oleksandr Usyk and will now face Usyk again in August.

For Ruiz, regardless of the outcome of the fight mentioned above, he still wants to fight AJ - Joshua's nickname - again.

"Once he beats me there, there should be a trilogy," he said in an interview with ID Boxing quoted from Marca, Friday, July 29.

“I should have had one more chance to get the belt back like we gave him a chance with the rematch.

"Things happened, he lost again to Usyk and the best player won.

"Of course, there has to be a trilogy. Even if he loses or wins, or if I lose or win, one day there must be a trilogy and somehow."

Andy Ruiz discusses Usyk vs Joshua

The American also talked about Usyk vs Joshua during his appearance on ID Boxing.

"I think it could go well," he said as he began his analysis.

"I know Joshua has a new coach in Robert Garcia, he's there trying to show him the Mexican style to be aggressive, throw a lot of punches, be first, come at him.

"But Usyk is an awkward fighter, he's an awkward left-handed fighter.

"That's why we chose left-handers too if we had to go through Usyk.

"Even in the sparring it was a little bit complicated but we adjusted it.

"I'm pretty sure if Anthony Joshua does a lot of sparring, because that's what helps us and has a different style there, he can adapt."
