Sandiaga Uno Supports Madiun To Become A Creative City With The Concept Of "Warrior City" Aka The City Of Warriors

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno supports Madiun City, East Java to become a Creative Regency/City (KaTa) as an effort to develop the potential of the creative economy in Indonesia.

"Madiun City has the potential to become a creative city that is packaged in the concept of "Warrior City"," said Sandiaga Uno during a visit to Madiun City, quoted from Antara, Thursday, July 28.

According to him, the potential of the creative economy sub-sector in Madiun City is good enough to be developed. This can be seen through the existence of dozens of pencak silat colleges in the local area which each have their own uniqueness and can be developed into interesting performing arts.

"Later, we will conduct a Creative Regency/City Assessment Test (PMK3I), after that we will strengthen the ecosystem and one day we will register it with UNESCO as a Creative City," he said.

As is known, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has developed the Indonesian Creative Regency/City Development Program since 2016. The determination of the Indonesian Creative Words is expected to be able to encourage districts/cities to be more innovative, adaptive, and collaborative in improving the performance of the creative economy in order to advance the welfare of the people in their respective regions. .

"This determination is expected to be a trigger for districts/cities to explore and develop the creative economy in their respective regions," he said.

Madiun Mayor Maidi said he was ready to follow up on the direction of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, regarding the Creative City.

According to him, Minister Sandiaga gave two homework for Madiun City Government during his visit to Madiun City. The first is the homework to organize an annual national and even international level "event" in Madiun City as an event to grow tourism and creative economy in the local area. This is because Madiun City has become a magnet for several communities to hold MICE ("Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions").

"The second is realizing the concept of a creative city as a Warrior City. This is an encouragement for us to work harder in building Madiun City and God willing, we will follow up on what the Minister said," said Mayor Maidi.

While in Madiun City, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno and his entourage visited Madiun City Hall, which continued to review the miniature of the Singapore Merlion statue in Sumber Wangi Park and the miniature of the Kaaba of Mecca in Sumber Umis Park as part of the development of "urban tourism" or urban tourism.

Then Minister Sandiaga Uno also visited the Ngrowo Bening Tourism and Education Park to taste the honey bee clanceng cultivated by the Madiun City Government which involved residents.
