Cristiano Ronaldo's Meeting With Manchester United's Top Brass Has Not Yet Produced A Decision, But A Surprising Solution Appears
JAKARTA - After being absent from Manchester United's (MU) pre-season tour, Cristiano Ronaldo finally came to the team's headquarters in Carrington, England. The presence of CR7 - Ronaldo's nickname - to the training camp was not alone, but accompanied by his agent, Jorge Mendes.
The player arrived at Carrington on Tuesday 26 July at around 11pm local time, to discuss his future at Manchester United. Ronaldo and Mendes had a meeting with CEO Richard Arnold, manager Erik ten Hag and Sir Alex Ferguson.
The meeting reportedly ended at 4:55 p.m. local time with Ronaldo seen exiting through the back door. There were three things that were explained in Ronaldo's meeting with MU officials.
First, Ronaldo still wants to leave Manchester United. Meeting with club officials and Sir Alex Ferguson did not melt the heart of the star.
The Portuguese player still wants to join other teams that appear in the Champions League.
However, MU also insisted on wanting the star to remain in the team. The Red Devils' management remains strong because Ronaldo is a player included in Erik ten Hag's project.
After not producing a solution, Mendes finally raised his voice and offered a middle way. The agent suggested that the management extend Ronaldo's contract and let CR7 go on loan for one season to play with other teams that appear in the Champions League.
When the 2022/2023 season has ended, then Ronaldo must rejoin the Red Devils in the hope of them appearing in the Champions League.
Manchester United's management has not made a decision whether to accept the solution or not. It is believed that there will be a follow-up meeting to discuss the future of Cristiano Ronaldo.
