Sleman Regent Says Hate Speech Issues In The 2024 Election Can Be Stopped By Ormas
DIY - Sleman Regent Kustini Sri Purnomo said that the issue of hoaxes, hate speech and intimidation in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) contestation could be overcome with the cooperation of all parties.
According to him, local community organizations (ormas) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) can also be at the forefront of straightening out hoax issues related to the democratic party.
"Ormas and NGOs can become government partners in socializing and becoming educational ambassadors for the dissemination of information, as well as stemming and rectifying untrue or hoax news," said Kustini at the seminar "Community Participation in the 2024 Simultaneous Election" in Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), Wednesday 27 July.
Kustini said that in holding elections there were many challenges to realize a five-year democratic party with integrity.
Some of the problems that are a challenge for the government, he said, are related to public participation and awareness in elections. In addition, another problem that often arises is the spread of money politics ahead of the election.
"On this occasion, I invite all participants present to strengthen their joint commitment to realizing peaceful elections, with integrity, and rejecting money politics in various forms that threaten the accuracy of election results," he said.
On this occasion, the Chairperson of the KPU Sleman Regency, Trapsi Haryadi, who had the opportunity to have direct discussions with all seminar participants.
