Hugging Panda Without Gloves, BLACKPINK Criticized Chinese Citizens
JAKARTA - YG Entertainment's girl group has been in controversy in China because of a short video from their reality show.
Titled 24/365 with BLACKPINK, the trailer for the latest episode features BLACKPINK visiting the first panda born in South Korea.
The video shows BLACKPINK members who are seen touching Fu Bao's panda without wearing sterile gloves. Chinese netizens feel BLACKPINK members don't pay attention to the cleanliness of the artists and animals they meet.
Moreover, some BLACKPINK members are known to have pets so they should know how to treat animals especially Fu Bao, the first panda who was only three months old.
No half-hearted, netizens asked the South Korean government to return the panda to China.
As a result, the YG Entertainment agency will postpone the broadcast of the latest episode 24/365 with BLACKPINK because of this criticism. On the other hand, they stated that the animal handlers, staff, and employees who worked on site during the shooting process followed the health protocol according to the health authorities.
Currently the preview video has been deleted and is being evaluated by YG Entertainment.
Previously, YG Entertainment was criticized by the South Korean Medical Workers Union for using nurses as sexual objects in the Lovesick Girls music video. The agency decided to remove the section and apologize for the offended party.
