Sow Flowers Commemorates Kudatuli Incident, PDIP: Intellectual Actor Must Be Arrested Regardless Of Rank
JAKARTA - The PDI-P (PDIP) has asked intellectual actors in the attack on the PDIP DPP office on July 27, 1996 or the Kudatuli incident to be arrested and put on trial. Komnas HAM was asked to thoroughly investigate the violence during the New Order era.
This request was made during the flower sowing activity today, Wednesday, July 27. In her speech, PDIP DPP Chair Ribka Tjiptaning said the Kudatuli incident occurred because at that time many supported PDIP Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri against the New Order.
Thus, PDIP urges that the incidents of violence 26 years ago can be thoroughly investigated. Any intellectual figures involved must be held accountable for their actions.
"The PDI-P DPP wants to continue to investigate this case. We have also gone to Komnas HAM. We ask not only the implementing subordinates to be arrested but the intellectual actors, whatever their rank. They are all still wandering around without any legal process. So today we are sowing flowers with the Secretary General (PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, ed)," said Ribka, quoted from a written statement, Wednesday, July 27.
Meanwhile, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said his party would not forget the Kudatuli incident. Moreover, this incident was triggered by many things, such as intervention from the authorities at that time.
In fact, Hasto said, the PDIP congress in the New Order era was often interfered with by other parties. "From the Surabaya Hajj Dormitory, at a very critical moment, Megawati came to lead the people's moral movement," he said.
"That's the momentum that Ibu Mega often told me about. How before the congress was dissolved, she took the momentum and said, 'de facto I am the general chairman of the PDI'. New is the tradition of resistance," continued Hasto.
At that time, Hasto said, Megawati's leadership was also often disturbed. "At its peak, there was a forced political engineering. Ibu Mega as the legitimate general chairman on July 27, 1996 saw how the party's office was brutally attacked and then there were casualties and that is a very dark point in our democracy how the government attacks legitimate political parties. in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of the people," said Hasto.
Thus, PDIP asked the perpetrators to be investigated. Not only those on duty in the field but also whoever is behind the scenes.
"Its essence is the most just, punishing anyone who has carried out a scenario that has created such a dark humanitarian tragedy in the history of our democracy," said Hasto.
"The events of July 27 are a basis of moral strength regarding politics conveyed by Mrs. Mega. Politics is integrated with the power of the people itself, because that is the essence of the strength of the PDIP," he concluded.
