Eri Cahyadi Allows Fashion Week At Pedestrian Tunjungan Surabaya, But Don't Disturb Road Users
SURABAYA - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi allows fashion week in the City of Heroes, East Java, provided that it does not cause traffic jams.
"So if you want fashion on Jalan Tunjungan but on pedestrians, don't disturb other road users. God willing, it will open again on Sunday but there are rules," said Mayor Eri Cahyadi as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 26.
According to him, the Surabaya City Government is currently arranging Jalan Tunjungan to facilitate young people who want to channel their creative talents. The arrangement is done so that activities such as fashion week, do not cause congestion and still pay attention to the comfort of road users.
Eri said that the Surabaya City Government did not prohibit fashion week activities on Jalan Tunjungan. However, he did not want the activity to cause congestion and disturb the comfort of road users.
Apart from the pedestrian at Jalan Tunjungan, Eri stated that he was preparing the Surabaya Youth Center as another alternative location. In the future, young people from Surabaya can also use it as a space to channel their talents in the fashion sector.
"We provide it at the Youth Hall. So Surabaya's young people can walk on the pedestrians wearing fashionable clothes. That can be done if you want to catwalk at the Youth Hall. Because the Youth Center cannot be separated from Tunjungan Romansa," he said.
However, Eri again emphasized that the fashion week activities should not cause traffic jams, whether it was held at the Surabaya Youth Center or at Jalan Tunjungan pedestrians.
"I asked for help when it was carried out in Tunjungan Romansa not to cause traffic jams. I feel sorry for other road users. We as humans must be able to respect other humans, how comfortable they are," he said.
While more importantly, Eri also reminded young people that fashion week activities could wear more polite clothes. Thus, Tunjungan Romansa remains a comfortable place for all people.
"I also asked for polite clothes," said Eri.
In addition to facilitating fashion week activities on the pedestrians at Jalan Tunjungan and Balai Pemuda, he said, his party is also preparing Taman Surya, Surabaya City Hall. The plan is that Taman Surya will be reorganized so that some of it can later be used for the general public.
"We will do the Surabaya City Hall. But we will remodel it first, arrange the garden first, then open it to the public," said Eri.
