Ricardo Gelael's KFC Indonesia Manager And Conglomerate Anthony Salim Expand Business By Building Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
JAKARTA - The management of KFC and Taco Bell owned by conglomerates Ricardo Gelael and Anthony Salim, PT Fastfood Indonesia Tbk (FAST), expanded its business by building a Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU).
This is done through the Partnership Investor Owned Investor Operate (IO2) with PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN, and PT Agra Surya Energy as a business partner of PT Fastfood Indonesia, Tbk. As a partner, KFC has prepared the land, investment and operational costs for SPKLU at the location.
Meanwhile, PLN as the holder of the Electricity Supply Business License (IUPTL) will provide SPKLU infrastructure and information technology platforms through the Electric Vehicle menu on the PLN Mobile application.
For starters, Fastfood developed SPKLU at the KFC outlet - Taco Bell Artha Gading, North Jakarta. Business development is carried out to accelerate the provision of electrical infrastructure for electric vehicles.
CEO of PT Fastfood Indonesia Tbk Eric Leong said, by becoming a business partner of PLN, KFC runs an environmentally friendly business and is committed that customers can enjoy food plus the facilities available at KFC outlets.
"This collaboration makes PT Fastfood Indonesia Tbk the first public company in the fast food retail sector to engage in the SPKLU business," Eric said in a written statement, quoted Tuesday, July 26.
Meanwhile, the President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, explained that to be able to accelerate the improvement of electric vehicle infrastructure, the cooperation of all parties was needed. The provision of adequate electric vehicle infrastructure can answer people's doubts about owning an electric vehicle.
PLN opens opportunities for cooperation with all parties. The SPKLU business is a future business that will continue to grow with the growth of electric vehicles in Indonesia," said Darmawan.
According to Darmawan, PLN has prepared this SPKLU business scheme with an IO2 system. This scheme consists of three packages, namely, the Medium Charger Package, the Fast Charger Package, and the Ultra Fast Charger Package.
"Through this program, PLN provides ease of ownership services as well as licensing arrangements for partners to be able to run a business and improve the electric vehicle ecosystem," said Darmawan.
President Director of PT Agra Surya Energy, Harvey Tjokro said, his party is also ready to become a business partner of PT Fastfood Indonesia Tbk in developing a sustainable restaurant business.
Until June 2022, PLN has operated 139 SPKLU spread throughout Indonesia. The existence of this infrastructure can answer the community's need to switch from fossil energy vehicles to electric energy.
