These Are Tips For Canelo To Beat Bivol In A Rematch
JAKARTA - British boxer Tony Bellew has assured that if Canelo Alvarez can reach his best boxing moment, he has a way to beat Dmitry Bivol. However, there were many things he needed to improve.
"If he is at his best he can beat Bivol - I think he will beat him, but he is not at his best (on the day of the fight), so he has to do better," Bellew said on the DAZN Boxing Show quoted by Marca, Wednesday.
“He has to do better; some would say it was a fight of what he did. You want to set the bar that high? You have to keep it up and stay there."
Bellew then alluded to the pound-for-pound rankings (across divisions) and did not believe Canelo was removed from the list.
"Everyone took him off the pound-for-pound list when he lost to Bivol. I totally disagree; for me he is still at the top. But there are things he has to do better."
The British man said he watched the Canelo-Bivol contest many times, and in his analysis, he noted that the Mexican had everything to beat Russia's Bivol.
"I've seen the fight two or three times, I see he's tired, he wants to try to do something but his body doesn't respond. Nobody likes to lose," said Bellew.
Canelo, continued Bellew, knew he had to make a rematch against Bivol. However, he had to go through the third duel against Golovkin first.
"I don't know when (the rematch) but I wanted that fight because I was (only) thinking about Bivol (as opposed to Canelo."
"For me, the first round of the fight was very competitive and I think he (Canelo) only won one round after that. And like I said, he lost, but he will get a chance for a rematch," commented Bellew.
