JKT48 Threatened To Disband Due To The COVID-19 Pandemic?
JAKARTA - The JKT48 Group is in danger of disbanding due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. On Tuesday, November 10, Melody Nurramdhani as General Manager of JKT made the announcement in a video.
He admitted, the pandemic that had been experienced since March made all JKT48 activities difficult to hold.
“Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, JKT48 activities have become very difficult to carry out since the end of March. The theater performance was stopped, the handshake event was canceled, and many other things made JKT48 very limited, "he said in the video.
Furthermore, the JKT48 team found a way to continue to do group activities with live streaming and video call sessions with JKT48.
"JKT48 has done everything it can to survive but to be honest with the discontinuation of theater performances, handshakes, and concerts, we feel that the true aim of JKT48 which is to provide energy and enthusiasm for all people in Indonesia cannot be done optimally."
"As a business, this group has suffered such painful losses that we are in a difficult position to operate."
Melody stated that reducing staff and members could be one solution so that JKT48 continues.
The hashtag # KamiBersamaJKT48 is echoing on social media. In fact, several JKT48 members also voiced this matter. This hashtag once occupied a trending topic around the world because of the large support from fans of the JKT48 sister groups such as AKB48 and BNK48.
This news was released by JKT48 after two of its members Nadila and Rona decided to graduate from the group. Meanwhile, JKT48 has not provided further news regarding this statement.
