BMKG Warns Potential Rob Floods In The South Coast Of West Java To East Java

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued a potential coastal flood or rob that could take place from July 26-27 2022 on the southern coast of West Java, Central Java and East Java.

"The height of coastal flooding is different in each region," said Head of the BMKG Maritime Meteorology Center Eko Prasetyo in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 25.

Eko said this condition in general could disrupt the daily activities of people around the port and coast, such as loading and unloading activities at the port, activities in coastal settlements, as well as salt farming and inland fishing activities.

This is based on tidal analysis and prediction as well as the potential for strong winds and high waves.

The existence of a new moon phase phenomenon and a consistent increase in wind speed of up to 46 km/hour on the southern coast of Java resulted in high waves reaching 4.0 - 6.0 m which could have an impact on the potential for coastal flooding in the area.

"The public is advised to prepare mitigation and adaptation efforts to anticipate the impact of the coastal flooding," said Eko
