Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Not Present

JAKARTA - The South Jakarta District Court has postponed the trial of a pretrial lawsuit filed by PPP politician Nizar Dahlan against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for two weeks.

The sole judge of the South Jakarta District Court, Delta Tamtama, said that the postponement of the initial trial of the lawsuit for handling the alleged gratification of PPP General Chair Suharso Monoarfa was due to the absence of the KPK as the respondent. The reason is that the KPK is not ready.

The South Jakarta District Court received a letter requesting the adjournment of the trial from the KPK. The KPK asked for the trial to be postponed because it was still preparing the completeness of the documents to face the pretrial.

"From this letter (KPK) requests that it be postponed for the next three weeks," said Delta when reading the KPK's letter in the courtroom (6) of Prof Wirjono Prodjodikoro of the South Jakarta District Court, Monday, July 25.

After reading the letter, the judge asked for a response from the applicant. Nizar's attorney as the applicant, Rezekinta Nofrizal, expressed his objection to the time requested by the KPK.

Hearing the applicant's objection, the judge finally decided that the trial was postponed for two weeks. Then the applicant agreed with the decision.

"The trial was postponed for two weeks. We will start on August 8 on Monday," said the judge closing the trial.

Rezekinta admitted that his party was disappointed with the postponement of the pretrial hearing. Rezekinta assessed that the KPK was just a waste of time. He also quipped that the institution led by Firli Bahuri was often absent during the first pretrial hearing.

"The petitioner as a community made a report to the KPK on the alleged gratification that Suharso as a state official allegedly received for visits to various regions. In November 2020, the KPK was reported but not followed up. That's why we sued the pretrial," said Rezekinta.

For information, United Development Party (PPP) cadre Nizar Dahlan filed a pretrial application at the South Jakarta District Court against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Sipp.pn-jakartaselatan.go.id was monitored on Wednesday, July 13, the pretrial was registered last Tuesday with case number 60/Pid.Pra/2022/PN.JKT.SEL.

Nizar is the applicant, while the respondent is the KPK. Previously, Nizar had also confirmed the pretrial submission. "I did a pretrial to the KPK because what I said 2 years ago was related to the alleged gratification case of the Minister of Bappenas or PPP General Chair Suharso Monoarfa there has been no follow up," said Nizar in his statement on Sunday.
