Neymar Wants A Long-term Contract At PSG

JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain has opened talks with Neymar regarding an extension of his contract, several sources told ESPN.

The Brazilian national team player admitted that he was happy to stay with his team at a time when he grossed 32 million euros per year.

He is open to signing another five-year contract but has asked sporting director Leonardo to guarantee the club's plans on the pitch.

A number of sources told ESPN that both PSG and Neymar were optimistic that an agreement could be reached.

Leonardo confirmed last Tuesday that talks had just begun with Neymar, as well as with Kylian Mbappe, Angel Di Maria, Juan Bernat and Julian Drexler.

But contract talks with Neymar are broader than Leonardo would have suggested.

The 28-year-old, whose contract will expire in June 2022, has made it clear to Leonardo that he wants to promise his future at the club. On the other hand, Mbappe's future is uncertain.

Real Madrid and Liverpool are reportedly chasing Mbappe, and are ready to sign him next summer if the player doesn't want to sign an extension contract at PSG.

Neymar and Mbappe's relationship is close both on and off the pitch. Neymar wants his young colleague to stay at PSG and he has already conveyed this to Leonardo.
