Skip KSI, Jake Paul Tops Influencer Boxing Ranking
JAKARTA - Jake Paul beat KSI in the influencer boxing standings newly established by the Professional Boxing Association. The list illustrates the impact that influencer boxers have on the sport.
Following Paul and KSI at the top of the rankings, AnEsonGib is in third place, while his future opponent Austin McBroom is fourth.
As for Logan Paul, who recently signed with WWE, is fifth, with Faze Temper in sixth and rival Blueface in seventh.
There has been a significant increase in influencers or social media stars being attracted to combat sports in recent years. It started with a match between British YouTuber KSI and Joe Weller in 2018.
The trend then escalated further when Jake's older brother, Logan, faced KSI in a professional bout before Jake was given the opportunity to undercard from exhibition boxing legend Mike Tyson.
Logan himself was then given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to face Floyd Mayweather Jr in June last year even though this duel ended without a winner.
Meanwhile, Jake has participated in five boxing fights in his career where he won four of them by knockout.
The Problem Child will soon be back in action against an opponent with a natural background in boxing, Hasim Rahman Jr. The pair will fight it out on August 6 at the iconic Madison Square Garden.
Rahman Jr. is a replacement for Tommy Fury who was unable to enter the United States due to visa issues.
