Samsung Outperforms Apple And Becomes The Largest Smartphone Brand In The US

JAKARTA - Samsung for the first time in Q3 managed to outperform its competitor Apple. These results were obtained after the sales of smartphones from South Korea dominated the smart phone market in the United States (US).

Quoted from Yonhap news agency, Samsung accounted for 33.7 percent of the US smartphone market in the July-September period, up 6.7 percent from the previous year, as reported by market researcher Strategy Analytics' report, Tuesday, November 10.

Meanwhile, Apple had to settle for being in second place with a market share of 30.2 percent. This is followed by another South Korean smartphone maker, LG Electronics, with a market share of 14.7 percent.

This is the first time for Samsung since the second quarter of 2017 to top the US smartphone market. Solid sales of mid-range and “budget-friendly,” smartphones made Samsung's name skyrocket.

Not to mention their flagship devices, such as the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Z Fold 2 which have stolen the public's attention. While Apple is still sticking with the iPhone 12 design.

On the other hand, Samsung also dominated the global smartphone market in the third quarter of this year, beating Chinese technology companies Huawei and Xiaomi. While Apple was fourth in global market sales in the third quarter of 2020.
