JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum HAM) opened a polemic on the registration of the Citayam Fashion Week brand by two parties, namely PT Tiger Wong Entertainment owned by Baim Wong and Indigo Aditya Nugroho.

The Coordinator of the DJKI Brand Examiner at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Agung Indriyanto, admitted that he received both applications for registration of the Citayam Fashion Week brand on July 21, 2022 and are currently still in process.

Seeing the ripples of protest from the public, Agung stated that all parties could file an objection to the application for registration of the mark. The reason is, the two applicants for the Citayam Fashion Week brand still have to go through a number of stages until they are officially registered.

"If the two applications have entered the publication period, all parties can file an objection to the application for registration of the mark," said Agung in his statement, Monday, July 25.

Based on Law Number 20 of 2016 concerning Marks and Geographical Indications, trademark registration needs to go through several stages, starting from a trademark application, formality checks, announcements for 2 months, substantive examinations for 150 working days, until finally registration and issuance of certificates.

"Later on, the one who has the right to give the mark is the brand examiner after the inspection process," he said.

Agung explained that Baim Wong registered Citayam Fahion Week for types of entertainment services in the nature of fashion shows, entertainment services, namely providing podcasts in the fashion sector, to publication of fashion magazines for entertainment purposes.

Meanwhile, Indigo Aditya Nugroho registered for the services of contest selection (entertainment), expos on arts, culture, and education, fashion shows (entertainment), party planning (entertainment) for promotional events related to fashion shows, and live stage performances.

"Both of them are enrolled in class 41 and currently their status is being published," he said.
