Boat Accident In Wondama Bay, Seven Survivors, One Killed, And One More Person Still On Search
MANOKWARI - A person died in a boat accident carrying nine people in the waters of Teluk Duairi, Teluk Wondama Regency, West Papua, early Sunday, July 24.
Head of the Manokwari SAR Office I Wayan Suyatna said that his party received the report of the marine accident at 08.00 WIT from the Head of the Polair Unit (Kasat) of the Wondama Bay Police Iptu La Sero.
"The engine boat accident with nine passengers in the waters of Duairi Bay on Sunday morning, seven of them survived, one died and one is still being searched," said I Wayan Suyatna, quoted by Antara.
He said that the joint Manokwari SAR team and the Wondama Bay Police Polres assisted by the local BPBD team were still searching for one victim in the waters of Duairi Bay until this Sunday afternoon.
"Seven survivors have been evacuated to Wasior District, while one dead body has been evacuated to Teluk Wondama Hospital," he said.
Head of Polair Polres Teluk Bintuni Iptu La Sero explained the chronology of the incident began on Sunday at around 21.00 WIT nine victims departed using motorized engines from Sobey Beach to fish in the waters of Duairi Bay.
"Around 22.00 WIT the weather was rainy so the motorcyclist turned on the engine to change places, suddenly the boat overturned, there was one victim who was suspected of not being able to swim so he left the world while trying to save himself," said La Sero.
He mentioned the identities of the nine victims, namely Kletus Arianto Said (deceased victim) and Udin F. Totoks (victim in search), then the seven survivors, namely Novrianus Nino, Jemri Lasarus Tefnai, Maria Yasinta Bupu, Rianto Antonius Mage, Yudita, Bruno Said, and Manggara (motor).
