Jerinx: If I Should Be Convicted, Please Granted Trial Prisoner

DENPASAR - Musician I Gede Ari Astina or known as Jerinx asked the panel of judges to decide the case wisely according to the facts of the trial. Even if he is convicted, Jerinx asks the panel of judges to give a verdict to place him under house arrest.

"If later I have to be convicted, if that's what happens I must be found guilty, I beg with great respect to be given probation or house arrest, Your Excellency," said Jerinx in a note of defense (pleidoi) at a further trial at the Denpasar District Court, Tuesday , 10 November.

Jerinx promised not to repeat the same act which was deemed to have defamed the reputation of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI). Jerinx admitted that he would be wise to use social media.

"I also promised not to repeat the same actions, I would not make a scene for those who felt disturbed by me. If I am proven to have done the same thing, proven to have made a scene again, I am ready to be severely punished even without trial, ”he added.

In his defense, Jerinx said the accusation of defaming IDI by posting on his Instagram account is absurd. He questioned law enforcers, namely prosecutors, about the real response from doctors in Indonesia.

"Due to the fact that there are not a few doctors and academics who agree with my opinion," he said.

"This is what I regret about IDI, why is IDI appearing on behalf of doctors in Indonesia but there is no statistical evidence," added Jerinx.

Jerinx was sentenced to 3 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 10 million, a subsidiary of 3 months in prison. Prosecutors considered Jerinx guilty of spreading hate speech related to posts on his Instagram account.

"That the defendant I Gede Ari Astina alias Jerinx has been conclusively proven guilty of committing a criminal act intentionally and without the right to disseminate information aimed at causing hatred or hostility to individuals and / or certain community groups based on ethnic, racial and inter-group religions. continuously, "said the public prosecutor at the trial of Jerinx's demands in Denpasar, Tuesday, November 3.

The prosecutor in his letter of prosecution said that Jerinx was proven to have spread hate speech by posting on his Instagram account with narrative words and sentences of hate speech against the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI). Jerinx is called the prosecutor proven guilty of a crime Article 28 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 45 paragraph 2 of the ITE Law.

There are two Jerinx posts on the @jrxsid account in question, namely the posts on June 13 and June 15. According to the prosecutor, Jerinx deliberately and without right spread information that caused hatred or hostility to individuals or groups of the community, namely the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) in Bali.
