Bali Secretary Answers Karangasem Cattle Breeder's Open Letter: If The Cow Is At A Radius Of 30 Meters I Call, If It's Outside Please Understand
DENPASAR - Bali Provincial Secretary Dewa Made Indra responded to an open letter from cattle breeders in Karangasem Regency who hoped that the government would immediately anticipate the spread of foot and mouth disease (FMD) in the area.
"It could be that if what is meant by slow is vaccination, then it must be understood because the one who was vaccinated was in a 30-meter radius. If the father is a cow in a 30-meter radius, I will call the Karangasem Regional Secretary, please look for it, but if it is outside of that, please understand," said Indra in Denpasar. reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 22.
In an open letter circulating on social media, farmers in Karangasem especially Sidemen District who call themselves Small Farmers wrote a request that the regent and related agencies immediately anticipate or respond to this FMD virus by vaccinating and acting quickly by responding directly to complaints.
"If the vaccination is slow, then I emphasize that the vaccine is limited and we will distribute it to nine districts. Even though there are no cases in Tabanan, we will still vaccinate it because it is preventive in nature, and if the administration of vitamins is considered slow, then I say this vitamin is limited," said the Bali Secretary. to the media.
In addition to the limitations of the PMK vaccine and the priority distance of recipients, Indra cannot deny that Karangasem is the second district in Bali with the largest population of quadrupeds.
"Karangasem is the second largest district after Buleleng, with a cattle population of 133,594, under Buleleng which is 148,944," said Indra.
With this amount, the government hopes that farmers can understand. However, to minimize losses for animal farmers, the government is trying to find slaughterers who can buy meat at standard prices.
This is one of the efforts that the Karangasem Regency government is able to do. Regional Secretary of Karangasem Regency I Ketut Sedana Merta said that the price of cattle was still in a decent status.
The price obtained by farmers whose cows contracted FMD is relatively equivalent to the normal price, this is also supported by the situation of Eid al-Adha some time ago, so that market demand for meat supplies is still high.
Ketut Sedana said that other than what residents expected through open letters that were circulated would be the same as other regencies/cities, therefore his party is still looking for efforts to prevent additional cases.
"We are vaccinating and it is going well, by looking at the population and percentage, 12,584 individuals have been vaccinated, and about 6,000 remaining vaccines, so areas other than the vaccinated points such as Kubu and Sidemen that ask for permission are allowed to get permission from the task force," said Secretary of Karangasem online. .
In addition, the Karangasem Regency government said that the distribution of PMK vaccines and vitamins was still being intensified, while providing comprehensive socialization. However, Sedana admits that the lack of human resources, which is only as many as 15 officers, is also an obstacle.
