Polda Metro Jaya Values 3 Social Media Reported By Roy Suryo Does Not Meet Criminal Elements
JAKARTA - The handling of the Borobudur Temple stupa meme case similar to that of President Joko Widodo who made Roy Suryo a reporter will not be continued. Because, the conclusion from the results of the investigation, the report does not meet the criminal element.
"It does not meet the criminal element," said the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan to reporters, Friday, July 22.
Then, another reason is because the two reports that made Roy Suryo the reported suspect have named him a suspect.
Thus, Roy Suryo's report on the three social media accounts automatically fell for the sake of the law.
"The one who fulfills the criminal element is Roy Suryo's brother as the reported person. That's why this is being investigated," said Zulpan.
Roy Suryo has been named a suspect in the Borobudur Temple stupa meme case that resembles President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). This determination after going through a series of inspection processes repeatedly. In that case, Roy Suryo was charged with blasphemy.
"The article alleged against Roy Suryo is Article 28 Paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 45 Paragraph 2 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning ITE," said Zulpan.
"Then also Article 156a of the Criminal Code and Article 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning criminal law regulations," he continued.
Originally, Article 156a of the Criminal Code regulates anyone who intentionally publicly expresses feelings or commits acts of a hostile nature, abuses or desecrates a religion adhered to in Indonesia.
For information, Roy Suryo reported three Twitter accounts to Polda Metro Jaya. The report is the aftermath of the emergence of a meme about the Borobudur Temple stupa similar to President Jokowi's face.
Roy Suryo's report is registered with Number LP/B/2970/VI/2022/SPKT/Polda Metro Jaya. The reported party is suspected of violating Article 28 Paragraph 2 Juncto Article 45 Paragraph 2 of the ITE Law regarding hate speech.
