Pros And Cons Of Anies And The Deputy Mayor Of Central Jakarta On The Zebra Cross Dukuh Atas: 'We Are The Governor's Subordinates, But We Shouldn't Complain About Road Users'
JAKARTA - The use of the zebra cross as a catwalk event for Citayem Fashion Week (CFW) has drawn a polemic within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
Deputy Mayor of Central Jakarta, Irwandi, stated that in principle the Central Jakarta City Government was not going in the opposite direction. The municipal government agrees that the zebra crossing is made (a CFW event) but the situation and conditions of traffic access must be considered.
"In principle, we and the governor are not going in opposite directions. In principle, we agree that a zebra crossing should be made, but look at the situation and conditions. If it's empty, it's okay. If there is a traffic jam at night, try to guard it all. when confirmed VOI, Friday, July 22.
Irwandi said that if the zebra crossing in the Dukuh Atas area would be used for the CFW event, there would be no problem.
"It's okay to use it, if conditions allow. So it's not prohibited. Don't let it cause traffic jams, if it's empty you can use it. If it's stuck, don't," explained Irwandi.
Irwandi said, regarding the zebra crossing, in principle the City Government would not precede the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
"In principle, the Zebra cross between the Regional Government and the Governor, we are the governor's subordinates, it is impossible for the City Government to precede the leadership. What has been done by Mr. Anies, we make it possible. All Jakarta residents take advantage of existing facilities, but look at the situation and conditions," he said.
He also emphasized that there should be no crowds in the Dukuh Atas area because COVID-19 cases began to rise.
"Don't have a crowd either, right now it's COVID," he said.
As is known, the function of the zebra cross is to cross the road for pedestrians.
"Yes, but this is a somewhat different situation. We do not have different attitudes, in principle we support but look at the situation and conditions. This means that the city government still supports (zebra cross as a CFW catwalk). Even though it is an alternative route, road users should not complain," he concluded.
Previously, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, emphasized that the Citayam Fashion Show, which is often held in the afternoon and into the evening, at the zebra cross in the Dukuh Atas area, Sudirman, Central Jakarta, is not prohibited.
This contradicts the statement from the Central Jakarta City Government which stated that the "SCBD" youth catwalk (Sudirman, Citayam, Bojonggede, Depok) in the crossing area was prohibited.
"There is a decree, no? As long as there is no letter, then there is no ban," said Anies at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, July 22.
Anies reiterated that there is no official regulation that prohibits activities such as fashion shows at the zebra cross.
"If there is a decree, it means it is a stipulation. If there is no decree, then it is not a provision. The country is regulated through regulations. As long as there are no regulations, there are no prohibitions," he said.
