Huawei Denies US Accusations That Its Products Are Used For Espionage

JAKARTA – The Chinese technology giant, Huawei, has recently begun to be investigated by the authorities in the United States. Whereas in 2019, when Donald Trump was still president of the US, Huawei was blocked by the Trump administration.

During the Joe Biden administration, the authorities began to investigate the tech giant Huawei. The reason is, the US government is worried that Huawei is being used to send classified information to the Chinese government.

In addition, they also avoided that US cell towers located close to military bases were not equipped with Huawei devices. The US government does not want the Chinese company to take classified information related to US military readiness, Reuters reported.

In 2019, Huawei had fallen victim to a technology war between then-US president Donald Trump and Beijing. The US accuses the technology company of being used to spy on Americans. Later, Huawei was put on the US trade blacklist. This makes Huawei disconnected from the technology business environment, where a number of US companies such as Google cs are prohibited from using Huawei in their devices.

However, until now the US allegations related to Huawei being used for espionage have not been proven. However, Huawei, which has formed its ecosystem, has finally designed its own operating system, HarmonyOS, and is working with non-American technology companies to replace a number of important features in its devices, such as Google Maps being replaced with Petal Search.

Information only, previously Huawei officially announced that it would launch the third version of the HarmonyOS operating system on July 27, 2022. The information was conveyed in Huawei's post on Weibo social media.

According to Sputnik News, Huawei fell victim to President Donald Trump's trade and technology war with Beijing in 2019 amid unsubstantiated claims that the People's Republic of China used private companies to spy on Americans. President Joe Biden tightened restrictions in late 2021 to ensure that Huawei products could not be used on US telecommunications networks.

To that end, the Biden administration is conducting an investigation to determine whether Huawei products have the ability to capture sensitive data from US military installations or not.

For your information, an investigation was recently conducted by the Ministry of Commerce. During the Trump administration, the agency already had the authority to conduct investigations into such matters, under Trump's executive order.

Jeff Bezos' newspaper, The Washington Post, reported that in December Huawei was reportedly linked to Chinese surveillance agencies via a number of important features including voice identification, people monitoring, tracking of shoppers with facial recognition devices, and so on.

In response to the report, Huawei denied its products had this capability. The Chinese company stated that it only "provides cloud platform services that comply with general industry standards."
