Apple Releases Updates For IOS, IPad And MacOS And WatchOS, Be Patient If You Haven't Found
JAKARTA - The latest update is coming from Apple for iOS and iPadOS 15.6, macOS 12.5, watchOS 8.7, and tvOS 15.6. However this update is starting to appear for some users. Given that the next OS version is likely to be out in a few more months as beta testers are already using it, it's no surprise that the Wednesday, July 20 updates are all relatively light on some features.
According to the release notes, here's the new update:
iOS and iPad OS 15.6 adds the ability to pause, rewind, restart, and speed up sports games directly in the TV app and fixes some bugs in Settings, Mail, and Safari macOS 12.5 also gets updates for the TV app and bug fixes for Safari WatchOS 8.7 update “includes improvements, bug fixes, and critical security updates” tvOS 15.6 update “includes general stability and performance improvements”The update also includes a list of security updates. Some of them patch issues that sound relatively scary. While Apple didn't mention that any of the issues were as actively exploited as before, it might still be a good idea to update all your devices as soon as possible.
While there are a few more minor updates just to fix bugs, The Verge sees new point releases like iOS 15.7 or macOS 12.6.
For people still using the first-generation iPhone 6S, 7, or SE, this could be one of the last updates you'll ever receive for that device, as Apple doesn't support it in iOS 16.
You can download iOS or iPadOS 15.6 by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
You can download macOS 12.5 by going to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Software Update.
Your Apple TV and Watch will likely update automatically. Otherwise, you can update manually by following Apple's instructions, which you can find here for tvOS and here for watchOS.
It can take a while for the update to be available to everyone, so if you don't see it, just check back on the screen in an hour or two later.
