Prabowo Calls Many Foreign Countries Violating Indonesian Seas

JAKARTA - Defense Minister (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto revealed that territorial violations in the Natuna Sea were not only committed by one country, in this case China. However, it is also done by several other countries.

Prabowo's statement was delivered after a working meeting with Commission I of the DPR, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu), the TNI Commander and Bakamla. This meeting discussed violations that occurred in the Natuna Sea.

"But I want to emphasize again here, that territorial violations do not only occur from one country, but several other countries also commit territorial violations to our territory," said Prabowo, at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, January 20. .

Prabowo explained that this condition had also been understood by Commission I in charge of dealing with foreign and defense issues. Thus, the DPR supports the government by increasing the defense of the TNI in the region.

Even so, Prabowo was reluctant to reveal apart from China which other countries had committed territorial violations in the Natuna Sea. "Yes, I just mention several countries," he explained.

The former Kopassus Danjen revealed that the follow-up to this fact was to increase defense. In addition, Indonesia is considered to need to modernize its defense equipment and improve those that already have.

"So that we have our abilities, uphold our sovereignty," he said.

In addition, Prabowo also revealed that in an effort to improve defense and modernization of defense equipment, his party would collaborate with the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu).

"We cannot necessarily have a strong defense, but of course the government must think about the entire nation. But once again the issue of incidents of territorial violations is something that must be of concern to all of us, the whole nation," he said.
