Louis Saha Called Man United Need 4 Mental Players Like Bruno Fernandes

JAKARTA - Manchester United need four players like Bruno Fernandes, according to former striker Louis Saha who said that the Red Devils have to spend more money to compete for the main trophy.

Solskjaer has spent more than £ 200 million (around Rp. 3.7 trillion) to sign new players since being appointed as coach at Old Trafford. He brought talents such as Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Fernandes and Donny van de Beek with the aim of restoring Manchester United to glory.

However, these large funds have not provided real success in the form of major trophies. The Red Devils still have trouble playing consistently and are behind Liverpool and Manchester City.

United's ups and downs continued at the start of the 2020-21 season and they slipped to 14th in the Premier League standings by recording three wins, three defeats and one draw in goal.

Saturday's 3-1 win at Everton took the pressure off Solskjaer slightly ahead of the international break. In that match, Fernandes scored two goals before providing an assist for new striker Edinson Cavani to score his first goal at Manchester United.

The Portuguese midfielder has quickly established himself as a mainstay player at United after moving from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of 55 million euros (around Rp.921 billion).

Fernandes has now recorded 18 goals and 13 assists in his first 33 matches with the Red Devils.

However, Saha thinks that his former club still lacks some players who have the mentality of Fernandes.

"The focus is on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer," the former Saha told Stadium Astro quoted by Antara on Monday.

"However, you also have to look from the side of signing players. Some new players like Fred, you can see the quality but he will not make a difference."

"The signing of Fernandes, you need four players like him. You need four of them to really compete and this is what is missing. You need to know the mentality of a new player."

"I want players there who want to win the Champions League and win big trophies. This is what is needed here," concluded the 42-year-old Frenchman.
