Paguyuban Pasundan Hopes There Are Political Parties Willing To Promote Sundanese Leaders To Be Presidential Candidates
JAKARTA - The Pasundan Association hopes that there will be political parties that carry potential figures from Sunda to become presidential or vice presidential candidates in the 2024 election.
"I hope there are Sundanese people who gain the trust of political parties to become presidential and vice presidential candidates. We pray that they can," said Chairman of the Executive Board of the Pasundan Association, Didi Turmudzi on the sidelines of the 109th Milangkala event of the Pasundan Association in Bandung, West Java, Wednesday 20 July.
Until now, not a single Sundanese figure or person has received the support of a political party to become a presidential or vice-presidential candidate.
"Therefore, when there is a presidential and vice-presidential candidate who is born from Tatar Sunda, of course we will support it. Why is that? Because that's organizational ethics. Between.
Didi emphasized that the main task of Paguyuban Pasundan was not to support but to encourage and pray for potential Sundanese figures to become president and vice president.
"Hopefully there will be some of us. I see that there is no political party yet. Hopefully the political party leaders understand that there are many Sundanese people and have potential. But why do they not or have not received attention," he said.
According to him, the 2024 election is a momentum for potential Sundanese figures to run for president or vice president.
"So don't just be made a voter. Ms atuh must be chosen (must be the chosen one)," he said.
Didi admitted that he was surprised by the support from a number of parties who supported the Governor of West Java M. Ridwan Kamil to become a presidential candidate in the 2024 election.
"Earlier I was surprised when Ridwan Kamil dared to run but there was no (support) from political parties. (Ridwan Kamil) Dare to do so. We respect that.
According to him, one of the weaknesses of the Sundanese is that their political libido is still low, so it must be raised.
"There must also be an intention. For politics, the Sundanese are like a wet thread. After being appointed, there is new. This must be abandoned. It must be like this, I am ready to go forward, punten kuring tipayubun (I want to go forward, sorry I am in front)," he said.
Ridwan Kamil is one of the figures who in various surveys has a fairly high popularity and electability as a presidential candidate under Prabowo Subianto, Ganjar Pranowo, and Anies Baswedan.
