Maybank Hotman Paris Attorney: Strange, Winda Earl Never Holds Her Savings Book
JAKARTA - PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk's attorney Hotman Paris Hutapea spoke out regarding the lost balance of savings belonging to e-Sport athlete customer Winda Lunardi or Winda Earl and his mother, Floleta, amounting to IDR22.8 billion.
Hotman said, there were several oddities found in the Winda Earl case. First, the savings book and ATM card in the name of Winda Lunardi are not held by the customer, but by the Cipulir Branch Head inisal A, who has now been named a suspect.
"So from the information earlier, the savings book and ATM based on the suspect's confession, the one holding is the suspect. Why was this opened? Because this is different from other bank burglary cases. This is a different case," he said in a press conference, Monday, November 9.
However, Hotman said, based on the statement by the Head of National Anti-trade Maybank, Andiko, Winda had signed the handover of the savings book and ATM. Even so, Winda never took it.
"The question is, as the owner of the money, why did you leave your passbook and ATM in the hands of other people? That's what investigators are currently investigating," he explained.
Then, Hotman admitted to finding another oddity in the case experienced by Winda Earl, namely that interest on savings was not paid from Maybank to Maybank's account. But from A's personal BCA bank account to Winda's parents' personal account.
Furthermore, Hotman said, based on the interest agreement promised to Winda, it was 7 percent. With a total term from October 27, 2014 to 2016, the interest paid should be IDR 1.2 billion. However, Winda received Rp.576 million.
"What was transferred was Rp.576 million. There was no protest," he said.
Not stopping there, Hotman also found another irregularity, namely the flow of funds amounting to Rp. 6 billion by suspect A which was intended for the payment of Prudential's insurance policy.
However, within one month there was a flow of funds that entered Winda's father's account in the name of Herman Gunardi worth IDR 4.8 billion. The flow of funds is known based on account mutation tracing.
"We do not know exactly who was involved. We do not accuse until today, only A. But seeing this oddity, you humans who use normal logic ask or not," he said.
When the media crew asked if there were any indications of money laundering cases, Hotman actually asked the Criminal Investigation Agency to conduct a deeper investigation and examine who received the flow of funds.
Hotman said, based on the oddities found, he considered this case not like an ordinary burglary case involving only one person, but it was suspected that there were various other parties involved.
"There is an indication that the bank is within the bank, that is what everyone should receive this money," he explained.
