Trial Of Use Of 2022 World Cup Final Stadium Show Al Rayyan Vs Al Arabi Duel August 11
JAKARTA - The first official match at the Lusail Stadium, which is the venue for this year's World Cup final, will be held next month.
Quoted from Antara, Wednesday, two Qatari clubs, Al Rayyan and Al Arabi, will play Qatar's Stars League competition at the 80,000 capacity stadium on August 11.
Lusail is the largest of the eight stadiums built or renovated for the World Cup and will host the final on 18 December 2022.
A spokesman for Qatar's World Cup organizers said the match would be a "testing ground" and the stadium inauguration would take place at a later date.
Lusail, whose futuristic design is inspired by Arab bowl-shaped decorations, will host 10 World Cup matches in total, including several group matches, quarter-finals and semi-finals and finals.
After the 2022 World Cup, stadium capacity is expected to be reduced by half and most of the stadium space converted to community space.
