Electricity Addition Project On Madura Island, Motorcyclists In Suramadu Diverted To Car Line
SURABAYA - Two-wheelers on the Suramadu Bridge have begun to be shifted to the four-wheeled vehicle lane, due to the start of work on adding electricity to Madura Island by PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).
"Starting today, we will divert the flow of two-wheeled traffic on the Suramadu Bridge," said Head of the Traffic Unit (Kasat Lalu) of the Surabaya Tanjung Perak Port Police, AKP Eko Adi Wibowo, in Surabaya as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 19.
He confirmed that the diversion of traffic flow has been simulated since July 13, 2022, and that four-wheeled lanes will also be used for two-wheelers during the project work which is scheduled for a year.
AKP Eko explained that the diversion of traffic flow on the bridge connecting Java Island and Madura Island was divided into two, namely for six months for the two-wheeled vehicle route from Surabaya to Madura Island, then the next six months it was applied to the two-wheeled lane from the opposite direction. .
"For the separation, we have given a barrier of about 200 water barriers. In addition, as many as 200 traffic cones have been given ballast. So that if exposed to the wind it will not collapse. As long as the separator is given a rope with lights," he said.
PLN will work on a project worth Rp300 billion, the aim of which is to double the electric power on Madura Island.
General Manager of PT PLN East Java and Bali Development Main Unit (UIP JBTB) Muhammad Ramadhansyah said that currently the electricity power on Madura Island is 300 Megawatts (MW).
"After the completion of this additional power project, the total will be 600 MW," he said.
In this project, a 150 kilo volt high voltage cable line (SKTT) will be installed along the 5,430 meter Suramadu Bridge motorcycle lane.
