Today's Demo, KSPI Puts A Big Banner "Cancel The Omnibus Law" At The DPR Gate
JAKARTA - The Confederation of Indonesian Workers Unions held a demonstration against Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation in front of the DPR Building.
Based on VOI monitoring, Monday, November 9, the mass of workers gathered at the gate of the DPR building, Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta. They brought a trade union flag and a commando car to give speeches.
A large banner filled the entrance gate of the DPR building. The banner reads, "Cancel the Omnibus Law, Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation, increase the UMP, UMK, and UMSK 2021".
Currently, there is no traffic engineering and road closure in front of the DPR RI Building. The mass of workers took part of the route on Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto. The traffic flow in front of the DPR Building became choked up because the lane was narrowed down to one road section.
In a separate video statement, the President of KSPI Said Iqbal said that today's demonstrations took place in a number of provinces.
"Today, several provinces in DKI Jakarta, Central Java and Gorontalo and other areas have again refused or asked to cancel revising the omnibus law Law 11/2020 concerning Job Creation," said Iqbal in his statement.
KSPI's aim of holding a demonstration in front of the DPR Building is to urge the parliament to make a legislative review of the Job Creation Law to revoke the Omnibus Law. In addition, they also have demands that the DPR call the Minister of Manpower to raise the minimum wage in 2021.
Based on the currently accepted schedule, DPR members have an agenda for a plenary session today at 13.00 WIB. Following this, the DPR RI Legislation Body will ratify the draft schedule for the Legislation Body meeting for the second trial period, the 2020-2021 session year.
