BPBD Predicts Extreme Weather To Hit Karawang, Residents Are Asked To Be Aware Of Floods And Tornadoes
KARAWANG - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Karawang Regency appealed to the public to be aware of floods and tornadoes following high rainfall in a number of local areas.
"In accordance with the BMKG forecast, the potential for heavy rains has occurred in the Karawang area for the last few days," said Karawang Regency BPBD Chief Executive Yasin Nasrudin in his statement, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, July 19.
He said, based on the BMKG's weekly extreme weather forecast in a number of areas in West Java, for the next few days Karawang will be on the list of extreme weather areas.
He said the potential for heavy to extreme rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds could potentially occur in the Karawang area today for the next few days.
For this, he said, his party appealed to the public to be alert to possible floods and tornadoes in the Karawang area.
"The public should remain alert to the potential for tornadoes and hail in the afternoon and evening, including being aware of the possibility of flooding," he said.
Previously, Saturday, July 16, floods occurred in a number of areas in Telukjambe Barat District and its surroundings due to high rainfall. On that day, 122 houses with 140 families were affected by the flood.
"We together with the Social Service through Tagana Karawang have provided assistance to the affected residents. There were no casualties and the latest report of the situation at the location of the water had begun to recede the next day," he said.
