SSI Survey: Gerindra And Prabowo Become The Main Axis In Determining The Coalition's 2024 Direction
JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Indonesian Survey Scale (SSI) Abdul Hakim said the Gerindra Party and General Chair Prabowo Subianto are one of the main axes determining the direction of the coalition of political parties ahead of the 2024 General Election.
"The Gerindra Party and Prabowo Subianto will be one of the main axes determining the direction of the coalition of political parties ahead of the 2024 General Election," Hakim said in a press release as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 18.
He explained that this could happen because the Gerindra and Prabowo parties met three criteria in building a coalition, namely the electability of presidential candidates (candidates), the possibility of getting tickets or boarding passes to become presidential candidates, and presidential candidates who were considered capable of solving problems faced by the community.
Regarding the first criteria, he continued, Prabowo Subianto, who had the highest electability among a number of presidential candidates, both from political parties and non-political parties, became a magnet in itself.
Furthermore, regarding the boarding pass, the Judge assessed that the Gerindra Party, which only needs one coalition partner to meet the 20 percent threshold rule for political parties to be able to nominate president and vice president, will influence the form of the coalition.
"Is the Gerindra Party only satisfied with one coalition partner or more than one coalition partner? This situation will greatly impact the constellation of the coalition that will be formed in the future," he explained.
Currently, according to him, of the nine political parties that have seats in the DPR, if they are distributed proportionally to get 20 percent of the seats, then at most four coalition groups will emerge.
The PDI-P, which has 22.3 percent of the seats, does not need to look for a coalition partner; while the Gerindra Party and the Golkar Party which have 13.6 percent and 14.8 percent of the seats only need to find one coalition partner.
"This means that the PDI-P is no longer interested in the coalition. However, apart from the PDI-P, the eight political parties with seats in the DPR RI will be very interested in cooperating in carrying the presidential and vice presidential candidates. will rely on the Gerindra Party and Prabowo Subianto," he said.
Regarding the third point, he continued, based on the SSI survey on July 3-12, it was found that Prabowo is a national figure most trusted by the public to solve three main problems in the country, apart from President Joko Widodo.
From the survey results, it was found that 14.17 percent of the people still believe that President Jokowi will solve the problems they face. Furthermore, Prabowo's name was in second place with a 13.75 percent public trust score.
"Prabowo, who is considered by the majority of Indonesian people as a solution to be able to overcome their main problems, further strengthens his appeal," he said.
Based on the survey, the three main problems currently being faced by Indonesian people are the high price of basic necessities (33.33 percent), the difficult economic conditions (26.67 percent), and the difficulty of finding work (11.83 percent).
"Therefore, it is not too much of an exaggeration if I later mention that the Gerindra Party and Prabowo Subianto will be one of the main axis determinants of the formation of a map of the coalition of political parties in facing the upcoming 2024 presidential election," said Hakim.
However, according to him, the only obstacle is that Prabowo Subianto has not stated that he will run as a presidential candidate in the 2024 election.
