Had Passed Officer Checks, Two Drug Dealers Transactions Inside Soetta Airport

JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Investigation Unit arrested DS (44) and M (47), two cross-provincial shabu dealers from Medan. From the arrest, 1,035 grams of methamphetamine was confiscated. The modus operandi of the perpetrators was to hide the methamphetamine in the body in order to escape X-ray inspection at the airport. The suspect with the initials DS was arrested at Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta), last Wednesday, July 6.

The incident began when the police did an in-depth investigation, so that information was obtained regarding drug shipments that would be sent from Jakarta to Medan.

"The results of our investigation, DS communicated with M, from Medan, which then we carried out reconnaissance, tailing and on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at around 14:40 WIB, we managed to arrest DS in the motorcycle parking lot of Soekarno Hatta airport," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Komarudin told reporters, Monday, July 18.

From the arrest of DS, the police carried out developments.

"We got one person with the initials M who at that time was going back to Medan, it is known that this item was sent by M from Medan by flight at 11.50 WIB and arrived in Jakarta via Soetta airport at 13.50 WIB," he continued.

During the arrest, 1,059.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine was secured by the police. The methamphetamine was wrapped in a plastic bag that read "Tea China".

"From DS, we confiscated 1,035 grams of crystal methamphetamine which was packaged in a plastic bag labeled as Chinese tea, this is also commonly used by dealers and from there we continue to develop, we continue to monitor the workers or people who deliver the goods until they reach their hands. DS," he said.

Kombes Komarudin explained that M hid methamphetamine in his body until he passed two checks at the airport. After passing the inspection, M went to the bathroom to transfer the methamphetamine into his bag.

"The mode used so that it can get out of control, to be precise at Kualanamu airport, Medan, where M took the item and tucked it in his body, inside his shirt, so he took it out of the bag first and removed the items attached to his body," he said.

After going through two checks, M went into the bathroom and transferred to his bag to fly to Jakarta. The plane carrying suspect M landed at Soetta Airport via terminal two.

Then M met with DS. The goods were then handed over at one of the shops at the airport and taken to the parking lot.

"In the parking lot we did an inspection and we found the BB (evidence) that we mentioned," he said.

From the suspect's confession to the police, one time suspect M was sent a salary of Rp60 million per kilogram. Meanwhile, DS gets a salary of Rp. 10 million per kilogram.

"For M, one time delivery is Rp. 60 million. For 1 kilogram of M, M gets Rp. 60 million. Meanwhile, DS who picks up at the airport, gets Rp. 10 million per 1 kilo," he said.

Suspects DS and M were charged with Article 114 Paragraph 2, Article 112 Paragraph 2 of Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of death or life imprisonment or a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
