Angga Sasongko's Long Process Of Working On Stealing Raden Saleh

JAKARTA - Director Angga Sasongko will release his latest film, Stealing Raden Saleh. This film presents six young actors and actresses in an action genre story that will be screened in theaters.

Angga Sasongko went through a long journey to finish Stealing Raden Saleh. Starting from the pandemic to the reshuffle of the story concept, everything was passed by Angga who admitted that this film was much more complex.

“The filming just finished at the end of last year. It's a pandemic, then Delta, can only shoot," said Angga Sasongko.

“In terms of production during Visinema, this is the most ambitious project, draining energy. After years of having a production that surpasses the scale and complexity of Light From the East," he explained.

In addition, he also reshuffled the script up to 17 times in order to get the story material according to his wishes. Angga Sasongko also emphasized that Visinema is trying to develop the intellectual property of their films.

“From the beginning, he made it a universe, so there are various backstory. We at Visinema are disciplined in making IP journeys. That's why we will always start with the first film first," explained Angga Sasongko.

On the other hand, Angga had no trouble determining the six main characters of Stealing Raden Saleh. They are Piko (Iqbaal Ramadhan), Ucup (Angga Yunanda), Sarah (Aghniny Haque), Gofar (Umay Shahab), Tuktuk (Ari Irham) and Fella (Rachel Amanda).

“The approach is not open casting but a one-on-one approach. Almost everyone has worked with me except Angga Umay Iqbal. You could say it's intuition (choosing players)," said Angga Sasongko.

"This is also an ensemble concept, so everyone has their own role, although at one point this will lead to who, but everyone has their own role," he concluded.

The film Stealing Raden Saleh by Angga Dwimas Sasongko will be released in theaters starting August 25, 2022.
