Losing To Joe Biden, Donald Trump Will Lose His Privilege On Twitter
JAKARTA - President of the United States (US) Donald Trump is facing an unpleasant situation. After failing in the 2020 US presidential election, he will also lose his privileges on Twitter.
As is well known, Twitter has a policy to protect individual accounts deemed 'newsworthy' or newsworthy, since 2019. With this privilege, both politicians and world leaders can submit information on Twitter and will be free from suspension or bans if they break the rules.
"Twitter's approach to world leaders, candidates and public officials is based on the principle that people should be able to choose to see what their leader says in a clear context," said Twitter as quoted by The Verge, Sunday, November 8.
Because Trump lost to Joe Biden in the US Presidential Election, he automatically had to give up this privilege. So if in the future Trump, who is quite diligent in singing, violates the rules, Twitter may ban his account at any time.
"This means that we can apply warnings and labels, and limit engagement to certain tweets. This policy framework applies to current world leaders and candidates for office, and not citizens when they no longer hold these positions," Twitter wrote.
So far, Twitter has tagged Trump's tweets quite often during the US Presidential Election. This is because Trump's tweet is considered to be seductive and does not include credible information so that it can spread misleading information.
Trump himself is still given the opportunity to get his privileges from Twitter until his term ends, namely on January 20. Before finally special accounts such as @POTUS, @FLOTUS, and @WhiteHouse will be transferred to Joe Biden.
