8 Years After MH17 Crashed In Ukraine, Malaysia Calls For Thorough Investigation Of Plane Shooter
JAKARTA - Malaysia mourns the eighth anniversary of the tragedy of Malaysia Airlines MH17 which was shot down in the Donetsk region, Ukraine. The Malaysian government has called for an independent and thorough investigation into the shooter.
Malaysian Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah said in a written statement in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday that Malaysia was mourning the loss of 298 lives, including 43 Malaysian passengers and crew on board flight MH17, which was shot down eight years ago.
"Malaysia will continue to give its firm commitment to the members of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) and hope that the judicial process is transparent, in an effort to seek truth, justice and accountability," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, July 17.
Saifuddin conveyed Malaysia's appreciation to JIT partners for the diligence shown in the investigation process of the suspects involved in the shooting of MH17.
Consistently, he said, Malaysia had called for and supported an independent and thorough investigation of the criminals charged at the Dutch National Prosecutor's Office.
In commemorating the victims and heirs of the accident, only a comprehensive legal process can provide a fair and equitable decision. Malaysia is very satisfied with the progress made so far.
"Our prayers go out to the bereaved families of the loss of their loved ones in the MH17 crash. The efforts made so far are for them and we will do everything possible to get justice for this tragic incident," he said.
