Bulog: Rice Reserves In West Aceh Enough For 6 Months
JAKARTA - The Meulaboh Branch of the Logistics Affairs Agency (Bulog), Aceh Barat Regency ensures that rice reserves in the west coast of Aceh are sufficient for the next six months or in January 2023.
"Currently, there are around 1,200 tons of medium rice in the warehouse, we estimate it will be enough to stock up for the next six months," said Head of Perum Bulog Meulaboh Branch, West Aceh Hafizhsyah, Saturday, July 16, quoted from Antara.
The government's stock of rice reserves has so far been obtained from farmers, through agents appointed to absorb rice from farmers when the harvest season arrives.
The rice, he said, will later be used for the benefit of the community, such as the need for distribution to budget groups, stabilizing rice prices.
"This medium stock of rice can also be used when a natural disaster occurs, for the needs of the community," Hafizhsyah added.
He explained that this year his party had a target from the government to absorb 1,500 tons of rice reserves by 2022.
To meet this target, his party is also ready to reabsorb medium rice from farmers during the harvest season which is expected to start in October 2022.
"As for the stock of rice reserves, God willing, it will still be safe. There's still a lot of rice in stock," he said.
