Trash Don't Make The Super Premium Labuan Bajo Tourism Status Tarnished
LABUAN BAJO - Labuan Bajo has been assigned the status of a super premium tourist destination. The problem is, this beautiful area cannot be separated from the classic domestic problem, the waste problem.
The status of super premium tourism does have many effects for Labuan Bajo. Development that beautifies this area will be accelerated because it is included in the priority category. Whatever will be done so that tourists are comfortable in the aftermath of which can boost the country's foreign exchange.
But garbage is also a scourge for Labuan Bajo to be able to keep on preening. President Jokowi also touched on the problem of garbage on land and in the sea. He admitted that he received many complaints from residents about marine debris.
"Maybe we need to organize a movement from the LHK to clean up rubbish in the sea, coral reefs. I have received complaints from people who come here to dive. Even though there are not many, it must start cleaning before it becomes a very large number," said President Jokowi.
"Also on land, I hope that later in the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry will also prepare infrastructure for waste disposal in the form of incinerators and other systems that must be completed immediately," Jokowi continued in an internal meeting discussing the preparation of Labuan Bajo to a premium tourist destination, Monday (20/20). 1/2020).

The development of Labuan Bajo's super priority destinations began to be addressed earlier this year. Starting from the arrangement of the area by creating targeted tourist segments who have higher incomes.
There are five tourist zones that must be arranged. Starting from Pramuka hill, Air village, container port and passenger dock, Marina area and Ujung village. These five zones will become an uninterrupted public space so as to provide a beautiful landscape and become a generator that drives development and a center for community activities in Labuan Bajo.
"Therefore, we must integrate, whether related to tidiness, cleanliness and comfort, security for tourists," said President Jokowi.
If all has been done, Labuan Bajo will face the first challenge. This area could be the location for the upcoming G20 meeting in 2023.
"But the most important thing is that we want to prepare Labuan Bajo for the G20 in 2023 and the ASEAN Summit in 2023. So that in the framework of preparations there, it is starting to be planned, prepared from now on," he added.
