Intensive Market Operations To Repress Inflation, Ganjar Pranowo: Central Java Almost 5 Percent, Already Dangerous
JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo continues to focus on controlling inflation in Central Java, which has now reached 4.9 percent.
The increase in the price of chili and shallots is one indication of the high inflation rate in Central Java. A number of inflation control measures were carried out by Ganjar and the Central Java Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID).
One of them is by intensifying market operations in several big cities such as Solo and Semarang.
"So we have started market operations yesterday. Then we cooperate. We ask BI to monitor it too. Especially in big cities, there are Solo and Semarang, we are monitoring it properly," said Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo in a written statement from the Central Java Provincial Government, Friday 15 July.
Ganjar continued, the inflation rate in Central Java today reached 4.9 percent, almost 5 percent. This exceeds the national inflation rate target of 3 percent. This high inflation rate has put Central Java into the red zone.
Government intervention is also carried out to reduce the price of chili and shallots. The reason is, even though the price has dropped from Rp. 100 thousand per kilogram to Rp. 65 thousand, it is still considered expensive.
"We have a national target of 3 plus minus 1. If we look at Central Java today, it's 4.9, almost 5, you know. I think this is already dangerous. So we need to intervene immediately. That's why we have to operate the market," said Ganjar.
Ganjar added that his party continues to try to suppress inflation in Central Java. Ganjar also continues to monitor price movements in the market related to commodities that cause high inflation, namely chili and shallots.
