Joe Russo Calls The Gray Man Not An Ordinary Spy Thriller
JAKARTA - The Russo brothers - Anthony and Joe - are back with their latest film entitled The Gray Man. This spy thriller genre film tells the story of a former CIA agent, played by Ryan Gosling.
Through a press conference, Joe called the film The Gray Man is not an ordinary spy thriller. He said, this film has a lot to do with the current situation.
“The Gray Man is a modern story. I think Bond is 60 years old and Bourne is going to be 20 and this film is connected to a lot of situations that are happening in the world today," Joe Russo told The Gray Man press conference.
“The characters are existential, funny, and match our sense of humor. And this is the type of film that we think is very suitable for today's audiences," he said.
Hearing the story, one of the actors - Ana de Armas was interested in joining The Gray Man. He also met Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans in a new project.
“I was excited when they shared this character for me and the story. I want to work with Ryan and Chris again,” said Ana de Armas.
“And the character, I really like. I love this woman and her background and her mentality and fearlessness," said Ana.
The Gray Man tells of Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling) or The Gray Man as a hit man and former CIA operative who is being chased by Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), a former CIA member.
Court Gentry is recruited by Donald Fitzroy (Billy Bob Thornton) to keep a secret about the CIA that is not revealed. This made Lloyd Hansen determined to find Court Gentry but was hindered by Gentry's shrewdness.
Based on the book by Mark Greaney, the film stars Jessica Henwick, Wagner Moura, Dhanush, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfre Woodard, Julia Butters, Eme Ikwuakor and Scott Haze.
The Gray Man will be released on July 22 via Netflix.
