Minister Of PUPR Collaborates With IAI To Prepare Infrastructure For The G20 Presidency
JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono in collaboration with the Indonesian Architects Association (IAI) prepares infrastructure to support the G20 Presidency.
Some of the supporting infrastructure for the G20 Presidency include the arrangement of the Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park (TMII), the arrangement of several tourist points in Labuan Bajo, the arrangement of the Mandalika area, the arrangement of the Ngurah Rai Mangrove Forest area in Bali, and the revitalization of the VVIP Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali."

So far, said Basuki, IAI has continued to cooperate with the Ministry of PUPR in infrastructure development in Indonesia. According to him, architecture plays an important role in infrastructure development.
“I am aware that the science of architecture includes all the functions of buildings, structures of buildings, as well as their aesthetics or artistic values. So going forward, all infrastructure development must involve architects, including road construction. For example, on the cliff pavement on the Cisumdawu Toll Road, I ask the architects to be involved so that it is better and more aesthetic," said Minister Basuki.
Basuki explained the role and support of Indonesian architects in the implementation of infrastructure development and regional development can be seen in efforts to preserve buildings and cultural heritage areas, including the rehabilitation of the Bung Karno Stadium in the framework of the 2018 Asian Games, the rehabilitation of Johar Market, the renovation of the Istiqlal Mosque, and the rehabilitation of the Gadang House. in South Solok.
"This preservation effort is carried out to maintain buildings or cultural heritage areas both physically and non-physically so that local cultural traditions are maintained," said Basuki.
Architects also play a role in the development of National Tourism Strategic Areas (KSPN) which are implemented in 5 Super Priority Tourism Destinations, namely Lake Toba, Borobudur, Manado-Likupang-Bitung, Mandalika, and Labuan Bajo.
