The Second Wave Of COVID-19 In France May Be More Severe Than Ever

JAKARTA - Health Minister Olivier Veran said the second wave of COVID-19 in France was potentially more severe than what happened during the spring. Prevention must be done immediately.

France will see the number of COVID-19 sufferers in intensive care units (ICU) reach six thousand. That, too, if the community obeys the advanced kuncitara. If not, the figure would probably hit seven thousand

"The next day and week will be difficult," Veran said during a press conference.

France is now working hard to train more health workers. Veran said medical students could again be deployed as reinforcements to fight COVID-19.

Currently, the total number of COVID-19 cases in France is 1.6 million, with a total death toll of 39,037. The figures recorded by France follow British records that previously registered more than 4,000 COVID-19 patients in ICUs in hospitals.

The UK has adopted a second stage national lockdown. France will follow with a key period until the end of November.

Residents are ordered to stay at home except for important matters. Only jobs that are allowed to run are related to public interest and health matters.

Shops that did not sell basic necessities were ordered to close. But schools and factories are still allowed to continue activities in the second phase of the lockdown in France.

French President Emmanuel Macron said if uncontrolled, the risks posed by a pandemic in the second wave in France would be more troublesome than the first wave.
