BENGKULU - At least three terrorism suspects with the initials KA, MT, and RH as well as 10 people who were once members of the Islamiyah Network (JI) pledged to remain loyal to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
The head of the Bengkulu Regional Task Force for Special Detachment 88, Kombes Pol Imam Subandi, said they had also waived their allegiance from the JI terrorism sympathizer group.
"There are three suspects who are currently breaking free from their wrongful allegiance and possibly committing acts that disturb peace in Indonesia," he said in Bengkulu, quoted from Antara, Thursday, July 14. He emphasized that Islam never teaches violence and hatred, but there are some groups who are passionate about understanding Islam so that it is difficult to distinguish between good and bad and causes their understanding of Islam to be wrong.
On a different occasion, the Governor of Bengkulu, Rohidin Mersyah, said that his party was open to JI members who wanted to renounce their allegiance and pledge allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia.
Because according to him, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is the big house of the Indonesian people so it must be maintained on the basis of Pancasila.
"Their understanding to return is good so that it should not be contradicted with religious values and with the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," he added.
