Mourinho Called Some Of His Players Irreplaceable
JAKARTA - Jose Mourinho said that some Tottenham players were irreplaceable and made it difficult for other players to shift their positions.
Mourinho's remarks came after Spurs' 3-1 win over Ludogorets in the Europa League Group J on Friday, November 6 early in the morning which put them in second place in the group standings behind Royal Antwerp.
Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Giovani Lo Celso scored each as the Spurs recorded their fourth win in five games in all competitions.
"You are talking about top players, Tottenham players, English Premier League players," said Mourinho after the match quoted by Antara from Goal.
"I always expect the maximum so I always demand. There are still some things from this match that I don't like. "
"There are players who very clearly, from the way they perform, don't give other players a chance to get their position because they are very, very, very good," added the former Manchester United coach.
"Players who don't play regularly feel that every minute is an opportunity to prove (themselves), to enjoy and give the maximum."
Mourinho himself believes Lo Celso will perform even better in the future. The Portuguese coach said that the Argentine midfielder had not yet released 100 percent.
"Good with the ball and not so good without the ball," said Mourinho. "His physical condition is not good. He is not in pre-season."
"During the previous lockdown he had problems. He didn't train in a period when other people were training so his preparation was inconsistent."
"So he's coming now, step by step."
Spurs will play West Brom in the English Premier League on Sunday before the international break.
