Police Catch Pickpockets During PSIS Vs Arema Match At Jatidiri Stadium, Semarang
SEMARANG - Semarang Police arrested a gang of pickpockets who took part in the 2022 Presidential Cup semifinal match between PSIS Semarang and Arema FC at the Jatidiri Stadium in Semarang, Central Java on Thursday (7/7).
Head of Criminal Investigation at the Semarang Polrestabes AKBP Donny Lumbantoruan said the five members of the pickpocketing gang were residents of Malang, East Java.
"They deliberately came to act in the crowd during a football match," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 13.
He explained that the gang departed from Malang City by renting a car.
The perpetrators, continued AKBP Donny, then acted with different roles.
According to AKBP Donny, the crime itself was revealed after one of the perpetrators was caught.
"After being caught and developed, other perpetrators were caught one by one," he said.
Together with the perpetrators, five stolen cell phones were secured during the PSIS match against Arema.
For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding theft.
