Moeldoko Invites Vietnam To Collaborate To Develop Electric Vehicle Ecosystem In Indonesia
JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko invites electric vehicle manufacturers from neighboring Vietnam to collaborate in developing an electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia.
This was conveyed by Moeldoko during his online meeting with the Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong at the Bina Graha Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 12.
Moeldoko said relations between Indonesia and Vietnam were very good and strong. This is evidenced by the bilateral trade between the two countries which has reached more than 10 billion US dollars. Therefore, he hopes that this strategic cooperation will continue to be strengthened.
"I invite Vietnam to collaborate with Indonesia to develop an electric vehicle ecosystem both domestically and in the Southeast Asian region," said Moeldoko, Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Ta Van Thong explained that Vietnam does have an electric vehicle manufacturer and even its production will be developed in the United States.
"I will try to bridge manufacturers from Indonesia to cooperate with Vietnam in developing electric vehicles," he said.
Vietnam is indeed a country in Southeast Asia where the electric car industry is already growing fast. Even the Vietnamese automaker VinFast plans to build a factory in North Carolina, United States, to make electric buses, sports vehicles (SUVs) along with batteries for electric vehicles.
Meanwhile, Indonesia has declared its readiness to enter the era of electric vehicles as stated in Presidential Regulation Number 55 of 2019 concerning the Acceleration of the Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle Program for Road Transportation.
For your information, apart from discussing bilateral relations between the two countries, Ambassador Ta Van Thong also reported on the visit of the Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bui Thanh Son, to Indonesia this July.
One of the agendas of the visit will discuss the completion of negotiations on maritime boundaries (Exclusive Economic Zones/EEZs) between the two countries.
Indonesia-Vietnam bilateral relations will also be strengthened through a state visit by President Nguyen Xuan Phuc to Indonesia.
The Vietnamese President's meeting with President Joko Widodo in Indonesia will be held around September-October this year.
