The Demonstration Against The Job Creation Law In Banjarmasin Starts To Riot, One Student Is Secured
JAKARTA - A number of students held a demonstration against Law Number 11/2020 or the Job Creation Law in front of the DPRD Building in South Kalimantan, Banjarmasin, Thursday, November 5.
The action, which initially proceeded peacefully, began to riot towards the afternoon. The shoving between the students and the police was inevitable.
This incident began when a mass of students who are members of the Student Executive Board (BEM) throughout South Kalimantan tried to break into the building and meet with council members.
However, the police continued to strengthen the security posse in front of the DPRD South Kalimantan Building which is located on Jalan Lambung Mangkurat, Banjarmasin. The students demonstrating claimed that President Joko Widodo did not hear the screams of the people at all.
From the information obtained in the field, the police detained one student.
Deputy Head of the Banjarmasin Police, AKBP Sabana Atmojo, confirmed that a demonstration participant had been detained.
"We are currently investigating the case, but from the statement of the Satreskrim member, he committed a bad deed during the demonstration," he said.
