New Record Of 102,591 COVID-19 Cases In The US When Everyone Awaits The Results Of The Presidential Election

JAKARTA - The United States recorded a daily record of COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, November 4 local time. There were 102,591 new cases recorded.

The nine states that recorded a record daily spike in COVID-19 on Wednesday are Colorado, Idaho, Indiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Rhode Island, Washington and Wisconsin.

The pandemic is impacting nearly every aspect of American life, including the record number of voters who cast their votes in Tuesday's presidential election, the outcome of which is yet to be decided.

In addition to a spike in cases, hospital admissions reached 50,000 for the first time in three months on Tuesday.

North Dakota reported only six ICU beds on Wednesday, when it was one of 14 states to report a record number of COVID-19 hospitalizations.

Hospitalization is a major metric, as it has no effect on the number of tests performed.

The proportion of testing positive comes back greater than 50 percent in South Dakota and over 40 percent in Iowa and Wyoming. The World Health Organization (WHO) says that levels of more than 5 percent are alarming, as they indicate undetected community transmission.

COVID-19 deaths tend to be higher, but not in line with case rates. The United States is now experiencing an average of 850 deaths a day, up from 700 last month.

The COVID-19 outbreak has hit hard in the Midwestern United States, on a per capita basis in recent weeks.

Illinois has confirmed 48,579 cases in the past seven days, more than any other state.

Texas, which has more than twice the population, has recorded 47,932 cases. Meanwhile, California and Florida each reported about 30,000 cases.

The US previously recorded a record 100,233 daily cases of COVID-19 on October 30, the highest number ever reported from around the world.
