Necessary And Important! Schools In Pekalongan Asked To 'step In' To Prevent Violence During MPLS
PEKALONGAN - The Pekalongan City Government, Central Java, has banned schools from committing acts of violence against new students during the school environment introduction period (MPLS) activities on the first day of school.
Pekalongan Mayor Afzan Arslan Djunaid said the school must be able to supervise the implementation of the introduction to the school environment so that there are no cases of physical violence and causing victims.
"We have advised all schools to focus more on school programs and coaching new students in introducing the school environment and not involving physical or verbal violence," he said in Pekalongan, Antara, Monday, July 11.
In addition, he continued, individual learning must be transferred back to before the COVID-19 pandemic, namely in the form of collaboration (groups) or discussions.
He said, regarding the issue of implementing health protocols, a number of concessions had been given and face-to-face activities for educational units could be carried out.
"It's just a matter of how these teachers as teachers keep the implementation of teaching and learning activities in schools well controlled," he said.
Afzan Arslan Djuniad, who is familiarly called Aaf, said that the introduction to the school environment would be more important if it was filled with fostering social feelings among students and encouraging students to understand the lessons given.
"We emphasize that the activities during the introduction of the school environment should not be found to be violent, but rather focused on fostering new students. We really warn all schools so that let's do activities that lead to coaching and school introductions, wake up and strengthen the mentality of students new," he said.
Head of the Pekalongan City Education Office, Zainul Hakim, said the city government had allowed face-to-face learning activities in the 2022/2023 New Academic Year at all levels of education units.
"However, we urge the implementation of health protocols to continue to be observed. This needs to be done considering that apart from the COVID-19 virus, there are also anticipating the spread of other viruses," he said.
